Painted Finish Elevates Lobby Space at 388 George St

As companies grapple with safely welcoming workers back to the office, Investa and Brookfield have delivered a commercial space that is a perfect antidote to working from home. 388 George St eases the way to returning to the office with parking for 366 bikes, end-of-trip facilities, inter-floor staircases, and an outsized lobby.

Di Emme's application of plaster lime finish throughout the impressive entrance hall and on the 12m columns has truly elevated the space. The finish took two painters two months to complete and midway through the supplier discontinued one of the component colours. Di Emme negotiated for the South Australian plant to mix up more product and the project was delivered.

The lobby is said to "provide an outstanding sense of arrival;" Put simply, it is "beautiful."

The commercial office building on the corner of King and George Streets in Sydney has had a number of incarnations. The building was completed in 1976 as King George Tower, re-designed in the 1990s as the American Express Building, refurbished in 2009, and now its transformation into 388 George St is almost complete.
