Need a Stainless Tee Nut in your Timber? Here are some optionsEveryone knows what a Stainless Steel Nut looks like (he wears an Anzor shirt and just loves stainless fasteners) - er no, I mean the mechanical ones. It might be a Hex Nut or Dome Nut - or even perhaps a Stainless Barrel Nut (which is a female threaded barrel with an external drive one end). But what do you do if you want to fasten a machine threaded fastener such as a Hex Bolt or Machine Screw into Timber? You don't want to secure it on the other side with a nut, and you want a machine threaded fastener not a woodscrew? Perhaps you want to be able to assemble and later disassemble it easily and neatly! A Stainless Steel Tee Nut is a very real option. With 4-prongs these are hammered into the timber and in the centre they have an internal/female machine thread (so just a small drill hole needed for this part to sit in the Timber neatly)- they come in the old style imperial UNC (3/16, 1/4, 5/6) or metric sizes (M5,M6,M8,M10). "O.k - so that is all very well if I am going into some timber planks" - I hear you say - "But I want to go into some hardwood, and I want a top finish on the surface to match the sharply finished fit-out around it". "Well" at this point you would hear me say - "this is where the Stainless Steel Wood Inserts come into their own". The Stainless Wood Inserts are 304 Stainless Steel - they will screw into Timber by an Allen Key/Socket Tip Driver as they have an internal hex socket drive - and also have an internal machine thread (sizes M5,M6,M8) for screwing into - nice!
