Cooling Exposed Air Conditioning with Cocoon Coatings

Cooling exposed air conditioning ducts from Cocoon Coatings

Cocoon Coatings provide a superior solution for cooling exposed air conditioning ducts and equipment. External steel ducts collect heat while exposed to direct sunlight, which can be a considerable heat gain. We encapsulate the entire duct or equipment with our infrared heat reflective waterproof membrane.

For example, a normal galvanized roof on 37°C day will heat roof sheet to approximately to 109°C. Whereas a roof coated with our infrared heat reflective coating on 37°C day will maintain our roof sheet temperature at approximately 58°C

This massive reduction in temperature equates to a power saving of the air conditioning consumption costs.

By coating the air conditioning ducts and equipment, we will dramatically reduce the opportunity of the of the steel duct from gaining surface temperature and releasing this heat into the conditioned air passing through the duct. The equipment, such as air handling units and remote condensers, will operate more efficiently when heat is removed from the units external surface, therefore operating more economically and drawing less power.

"The heat load has been reduced internally by 5-8°C and has been so successful that additional roofing around the facility has also been treated," - Terrona Ramsay Former CEO/DON of KRHS.

"Cocoon coating improves the thermal performance of the project. The nanoceramic in the membrane genuinely reflects heat more effectively than regular paint," - Judith North Architect Director of NOWarchitecture.

"Providing adequate thermal comfort and waterproofing services is integral to the provision of high quality educational facilities across the state," - The Hon James Merlino MP Minister of Education.
