Melbourne University's Dookie campus, located in Dookie VIC near Shepparton, engaged Cocoon Coatings to install a waterproof, energy-efficient heat-reflective membrane prior to their solar or PV installation.

During the school's PV installation, multiple penetrations in the roof were made to fix the solar panels in place- risking the possibility of water leaks. Cocoon Roofs returned after its installation to reseal the roof and issued a 10-year warranty against leaks.

For this project, the installation of Cocoon Roof's heat-reflective membranes helped with the performance of the solar panels as it helps maintain its optimal working temperature, which is around 25 degrees. Whenever ambient temperatures rise beyond 25, the PV's performance tends to decline at a fast rate. But thanks to the Cool Roof by Cocoon Coatings, its presence helped maintain the right temperature by keeping a much milder temperature within the roof microclimate, which would not have been possible with an uncoated roof.
