Custom Acoustic Wall Panels for Library Refurbishments by SUPAWOOD Custom acoustic wall panels feature in the refurbishment of the Macquarie Building at State Library of NSW, where Cullen Feng engaged SUPAWOOD to deliver bespoke linings for the Ground Floor and Reading Room as part of a wider transformation. The curving, colourful installation extends the visual language of an earlier auditorium stage, with forms that abstractly reference bookshelves. Colour toning differentiates the Ground Floor from the lower Reading Rooms, establishing a clear hierarchy while maintaining continuity across public areas. A modular, systemised approach underpinned the scheme, enabling efficient installation within a tight relaunch programme for the library. SUPAWOOD developed a customised modular system incorporating specific paint finishes, rounded profiles, refined trim details, curving capability and acoustic backing. Project-specific compliance certification ensured the assembly met required fire group standards, aligning design intent with performance and construction needs. Director John Cullen described the collaboration as progressing exceptionally well, noting responsive support and prompt issue resolution from SUPAWOOD across construction.
