Timber-Look Linings for Civic Interiors by SUPAWOOD Walyalup Civic Centre in Fremantle's Kings Square uses timber-look architectural linings to create warmth and visual character across its public interiors. Designed by KHA Studio and delivered by Pindan Contracting, the award-winning civic building includes council chambers, offices and a public library, forming an important part of the city's renewed civic precinct. SUPAWOOD supplied SUPASLAT in an NTV Blackbutt finish for selected walls and ceilings. The linear slatted system introduces the appearance and rhythm of natural timber while supporting a cohesive interior language across varied civic spaces. On the feature ceiling, SUPAWOOD WAVE BLADE in the same finish creates a sculptural overhead element, adding movement and visual depth without disrupting the continuity of the surrounding lining system. The combination of slatted wall and ceiling panels with the sculptural feature treatment contributes to a distinctive architectural identity suited to a significant public building. Walyalup Civic Centre subsequently received the National Award for Public Architecture at the 2022 National Architecture Awards. View more about this project at supawood.com.au
