Window Film Association of Australia and New Zealand - window film solution for car dealership

From warm summers to cold winters, there is something for everyone living and working in South East Melbourne. However these diverse conditions often give rise to the question of how to best insulate against extreme temperatures.

Owners of a new car dealership in Frankston found the solution in window film.

Large north-facing windows at the Bayside Jeep, Chrysler & Dodge dealership enable passers-by to see the range of cars on display, attracting customers while providing natural light inside. The only problem with the shop front was the heat that would beat into the premises in summer.

Lyn Page, Administration Manager at Bayside, comments, "We love our expanse of road-side windows. The only problem was that in summer the shop became so hot it was like a sauna, making it uncomfortable for customers and staff. We're energy conscious for environmental reasons and financial ones, so increased air conditioner usage seemed to be a wasteful response."

After some research, Lyn discussed the option of window film with a local installer.

Mark Lockwood, Arma Protection Tinting, explains "Window film can be retrofit, so you don't need to buy costly, energy-saving glass to solve internal temperature issues. Film is an inexpensive, safe and hassle-free window treatment that does not impede the view from inside or out, which was an important consideration in this case."

Over the course of two weeks Arma Heatshield film was applied to 1,200 square feet of windows at Bayside. This type of film uses nano-technology in its composition, where miniscule ceramic particles are applied to the film instead of metal-based particles.

"Over the seven years we've been in business we've seen films constantly evolving - long gone are the days of window tint changing colour or 'bubbling'," Mark said, "Yet nano-technology is one of the most exciting developments in the industry recently. We're witnessing phenomenal solar control and durability benefits with these new products."

Lyn adds, "The results have been outstanding. The windows appear exactly the same as they did prior to the application, so visibility hasn't been sacrificed at all. The showroom is now cooler on hot days, plus we're insulated against heat-loss throughout winter!"

Arma Protection Tinting is a member of the Window Film Association of Australia and New Zealand (WFAANZ), and therefore abides by an industry code of practice and offers a minimum ten year warranty on all applications.
