Window Tinting Solutions from WFAANZ

The heat solution

For homeowner Sue from Buderim on the Sunshine Coast, the impending summer posed a few problems. Her house has large windows overlooking a lagoon and a pool area, affording incredible views and bathing her home in natural light. However, she found it hard to keep her home cool once the sun started beating through the windows.

Glare from the water made certain rooms unusable throughout the day, and prolonged sun exposure started to deteriorate the lacquer on her polished timber floors, which caused them to fade.

Sue's home also suffered from the 'fish bowl' effect. As her corner home is situated opposite a busy road and next to a public parkland and lagoon, people could see in through the windows.

To make her home more comfortable, private and cooler, Sue sought a window treatment that would not impede her views or diminish the natural light that brightened her interior.

Local window film installer Chris Kelsey from Enviro Tint offered an inexpensive, quick and easy solution. "Many people don't realise there are new multi-purpose window films that stop the heat in summer, increase privacy and reduce glare," Chris said. "Sue was surprised to learn that she didn't need expensive new windows or unsightly exterior blinds, as the window film could be retrofit and the job done in a matter of hours."

Over 47m2 of window film was applied throughout Sue's architecturally designed Buderim home - in the living areas, kitchen, bedrooms and entrance. In less than two days, the installation was complete.

Sue comments, "I was surprised to learn that one film product could address all our requirements, and even more thrilled when I saw and felt the final results. The privacy and protection has given us peace of mind, and the heat and glare control has made it much more comfortable. Now we are looking forward to the summer months without the high air-conditioner expenses."

The real secret behind a successful window film installation is selecting a competent and professional tinting business and the most effective window film for the situation. Sue said, "Enviro Tint considered each window's angle to the sun for both summer and winter and our living and lifestyle attitudes to natural light and the overall appearance."

Chris adds, "My advice to anyone is to spend time choosing a film that suits your particular needs. In this case, we used a film that maintains the most natural daytime view, as this was very important to Sue. The view from the inside was not hindered, and the windows look great from the outside. This film has top notch heat rejection and low reflectivity, so all her concerns were covered."
