The federal government has taken strong measures to ensure that the adoption and installation of Solar PV Grid-Systems is taken seriously. There has been policy enacted in three major areas:

1. Electricity costs
The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) has released a draft stating that as of July 2010 retail electricity prices are to increase from 44-62% over the next three consecutive years.

2.Renewable Energy Credits (RECs)
Is the name of the current scheme in place for subsidies on the investment of Solar PV. The RECs can currently subsidize up to $7,500 on the costs of a complete grid system.

3.Feed-in Tariff
Is a feed in scheme in place for 15years in Victoria and 20years in NSW. This enables solar system owners to be able to feed-in or sell surplus power back into the national grid and get paid for every 1kWh produced. NSW currently has the best investment conditions for potential customers due to a generous gross feed-in tariff which means you can export 100% of your solar electricity back to the national grid and get paid a minimum of $0.60.

This means that once you have paid off your investment (with current legislation average ROI is between 3-4 years) you can actually produce your own free clean green electricity.
