Biscoe Wilson Architects were approached by the Department of Education to design and document a new high school proposed for Calliope near Gladstone to cater to the growing community in the region. The masterplan included an administration and staff centre, junior general learning centre, resource centre, multipurpose hall, outdoor playing courts, hospitality block, canteen, science centre, and technology centre.

Biscoe Wilson Architects have developed a wide range of experience in the education sector and Calliope demonstrates the firm's mission to design facilities that provide comfort, innovation, and inspiration. Essential in achieving these goals was the choice of materials. From the Colorbond® rooves and awnings, to the metal wall cladding, and to the Safetyline Jalousie louvre windows. Each was carefully selected for their sustainability and durability features plus ease of maintenance.

In the pursuit of maximum ventilation, louvres provide an attractive and stylish ventilation solution, particularly in North Queensland's warm and humid climate. Utilising Safetyline Jalousie's extra-wide spans, louvres were specified throughout the 9 buildings to promote natural airflow and reduce the reliance on air conditioning and its associated costs.
