Supawood's Supacoustic NCK noise control kit floating ceiling panels feature in an innovative office fit-out located in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley. The fit-out aimed at creating a modern open environment over 5 levels into which the new tenant's entire staff from 8 Brisbane locations could be merged into one productive workplace.

A communal rather than territorial approach to the workspace required large voids to be cut through the existing building to create a unified space over all five levels and provide a sense of connectivity and transparency. However, this open design posed sound reverberation problems throughout and a simple acoustic insulation solution was needed that would work around existing fixtures and other interruptions in the newly created ceiling expanse. Supacoustic NCK floating ceiling panels addressed these needs perfectly.

Supacoustic NCK ceiling panels are supplied as individual prefinished, free floating, acoustic panels which have been mounted in rows running the length of the interior to give an extended dimension to the space. Finished in a warm timber veneer and suspended to float against a black background, the panels enhance the ceiling space as well as complimented the natural timber finishes found elsewhere in the interior décor.

The design team was required to ensure that the project achieved Green Star rating. Supacoustic NCK as FSC certified met the strict criteria specified that all materials used within the workplace be sourced from renewable and ecologically sound suppliers.

This fit-out has now won 2011 RAIA QLD State Award for Interior Architecture.
