Supawood's Supatile DIT ceiling tiles have delivered an exciting outcome within a tight budget for a Queensland School.

Supatile DIT rebate drop-in ceiling tiles from Supawood Architectural Lining Systems have delivered an exciting outcome within a tight budget in the refurbishment of the multipurpose library at All Saints School in Albany Creek, Queensland.

The architects, AB+M Architects, were looking for a creative, cost effective and acoustic answer to use in the existing T-Bar grid rather than just replacing the ceiling with plasterboard tiles. The solution was found by choosing Supatile DIT rebated drop-in-tiles as it provided a diverse range of patterns and finishes enabling the designers to create a unique result, as well as being economical, easy to install and providing excellent acoustics.

Supatile DIT is an affordable drop-in pre-finished acoustic ceiling panel system for rapid installation while maintaining full access to services in the ceiling cavity. To the delight of the builder and the architect, the low cost did not mean that effective acoustic properties and choice of a high impact pattern were forfeited when selecting this Supawood product.

The choice of Supatile DIT also met the requirements of both the client and the designers in the use of environmental design principles as this product maximised Green Star credits and is fire retardant. Supatile DIT is also extremely durable and easy to clean.

The architect was able to achieve design flexibility while providing the builder with a ceiling product choice that was both simple and quick to install and within the builder's budget.

The Supatile DIT tiles used are 600 x 600mm squares rebated into a back grid. For most of the ceiling the tile pattern chosen is Cyberspace in our concept veneer Supafinish Hoop Pine alternated to enhance the use of the pattern. The designer has then cleverly scattered in the occasional smooth Supafinish matt silver tile to break up the other pattern and form a checkered effect. The effect is stunning!

This innovative choice of ceiling product has added a key element and strong feature in the creative transformation of the existing library to provide a new look resource centre which has become an invaluable hub for the whole school.
