External Finishes for Insulated Concrete Forms from Zego

Render is the most commonly used finish as well as paint finishes, timber weather boards and stone facing.

Render
1. Firstly, brush down the surface to remove any debris
2. Trowel on 4mm of base coat acrylic render (render to comply with CA26 Compliance)
3. Roll out the reinforcement mesh for the render and trowel onto the surface
4. Do not staple the mesh to the wall
5. Overlap the slabs edge by 50mm minimum
6. Cut 45 deg from the corner of the window openings
7. Measure the reveal back to the windows, then measure, cut the mesh and fold back onto the reveals
8. Ensure you reinforce the corners with additional reinforcement mesh
9. Trowel on another 4mm of base coat
10. On completion, an 8mm base coat with reinforcement mesh in the centre for impact resistance

Paint finish
1. Membrane paint applied as per manufacturers specification

Timber Weather Boards
1. Install battens on wall and fix back to concrete
2. You can also recess timber battens into the wall
3. Install sarking or moisture barrier
4. Fix weatherboards and paint or stain

Stone Facing
1. Apply waterproofing or base coat of render with reinforcement mesh
2. Use external adhesive as specified by the stone supplier
3. Adhere to wall
4. Use timber dowels to form joints and perpends
5. When dry, remove dowels and fill joints with appropriate grout
6. Seal surface as required
