Customised Decorative and Slatted Panels by Supawood
SUPAWOOD SUPALINE decorative and SUPASLAT slatted panels created a unique design for the Glasshouse Christian College's state-of-the-art performing arts theatre in Beerwah, QLD. The brief for the designers, Fulton Trotter Architects, was to create a flexible space suitable for all facets of the performing arts at a size that would seat 600. The objective was to create exceptional acoustics for the entire space while having design elements that reflect the mountains and forest environments the school was set in with materials that meet the strict BCA requirements for school buildings. Encompassing the school is the Beerwah State Forest and the Glass House Mountains and to reflect this, the design used the warm timber finishes of VOC-free SUPAFINISH Tasmanian Oak laminate which also meets the relevant fire-rating standards. For the theatre's broad raked ceiling, floating SUPALINE solid and SUPASLAT slated rectangular was applied against a black backdrop. All these ceiling panels helped eliminate noise reverberation and improve the acoustics within the space. The highlight of the theatre design was achieved using bespoke SUPALINE panels to form the abstracted patterns of a mountain panorama. Cut to shape and assembled like giant jigsaw puzzles made possible by SUPAWOOD's mindful packing and labelling.
