Stainless Steel Stocked Pipe Systems from ACO Polycrete

automatic watering system

ACO Pipe is a range of stainless steel, stocked pipe systems, which provide the modern metal alternative to PVC and HDPE pipework. The elevated temperature strength of stainless steel lends itself to applications in buildings and structures where fire resistance is of importance.

Extensive testing has been carried out on the ACO Pipe range, culminating in a number of international fire certifications. ACO Pipe is manufactured from grade 316 stainless steel, which not only provides excellent corrosion characteristics, but also a high heat resistance. Stainless steel melts at around 1400°C, whereas the average building fire is 1000°C, meaning that ACO Pipe will not fail.

From an environmental point of view, stainless steel scores favourably over plastics such as PVC, which emits toxic gas in the event of a fire. PVC releases Hydrogen Chloride gas when burning, which is a gaseous form of hydrochloric acid. It is extremely lethal and it is the fumes that usually kill building occupants, not the flames of the fire.
