ACO Drainage Systems helps make Kelvin Grove station a hit!

Kelvin Grove Station still ah hit!

Kelvin Grove Station, which appears as a stark visual contrast to the luscious fairways of nearby Victoria Park Golf Club, would have come under fire from its new neighbors if it hadn't been for the planning efforts of the designers. Part of the Inner Northern busway, the architect has opted for a steel protection screen to prevent buses and commuters from being struck by golf balls. The steel framed structure, covered with a light mesh, forms an intriguing web like shadow across the station's pavement.

Consultants selected ACO CABLEMATE Type 7 pits with concrete lids to enclose the stations electrical and communications services. The pits, made from HDPE with uniquely designed strengthening ribs are an ideal cost effective solution for the station's footpaths, not accessible to vehicular traffic. A number of ACO ACCESS Urbanfil covers were installed above ACO's polymer concrete pits in other areas of the station allowing designers to preserve the visual continuity of the pavement. To protect commuters from road spray on wet days, 200 meters of ACO DRAIN K200 fitted with Slotted Iron grates was selected as the surface drainage system. Positioned adjacent to the kerb, the system would eliminate ponding in areas where passengers would board.

The station was designed with a focus on safety, comfort, convenience and accessibility for commuters and so only reliable, safe and proven products were selected.
