Stair Treads & Tactiles for Deakin University from DTAC![]() Pioneers of the architectural floor tactile, DTAC are proud to have played a very important role in the completion of Deakin University. They successfully installed stair treads and tactiles in various areas of the Burwood Highway Frontage Building. The products were specified to improve the safety of the students and staff alike, plus protect the stairs and walkways from daily traffic. Overall, DTAC designed and supplied 43,000 stair treads and tactiles, including the durable and pleasing thermoplastic urethane tactiles in black, DTAC 316 stainless steel tactiles, and integrated rubber tactile mats, all installed in several utility areas across the university building. Almost a kilometre of DTAC's pleat stair edging products were anodised in black colour and combined with a few edging profiles to make sure that they blend seamlessly with the stair areas. ![]() DTAC also accepted an unusual request from the university, wherein they were asked to design and install brass tactiles on the concrete roof. The products were used as building markers for infrastructure. The installation was handled by the DTAC team and contracted installers. It was completed as per the requirements of the National Code and Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). To learn more about DTAC and their stair treads and tactiles, visit www.dtac.com.au today!
