NDIS Accreditation for Care and Disability Providers

NDIS Accreditation for Care and Disability Providers

In our previous article, one of the first steps in achieving NDIS Accreditation for Care and Disability Providers is to decide if you want to be a Registered or Unregistered NDIS Provider.

It's often believed that in order to begin providing services and support to NDIS participants, you must first complete a registration process or pass an NDIS audit. This, however, is a misconception. In fact, any legitimate Australian company with an ABN and the necessary credentials can begin offering disability-related services, with the client or a plan manager paying for the services using the client's NDIS funding.

The two types of NDIS providers are either Registered or Unregistered, and if you're interested in becoming an NDIS provider, the first step is to decide whether you want to start operating as an unregistered NDIS provider or acquire a registered status. Here are the main differences between the two:

Registered NDIS Providers: These businesses have successfully registered with the NDIS, undergone an audit by an NDIS Commission auditor, and received NDIS accreditation. Participants can be somewhat assured that the provider is licensed to perform services in accordance with specific NDIS Standards because they have the right to manage funds and make direct claims through the NDIS.

Unregistered NDIS Providers: These businesses offer services to participants and may be paid by either self-managed funding participants or plan-managed funding participants even though they have not finished the NDIS registration process, undergone an NDIS audit, or received their NDIS accreditation.
