As part of our EJ Value of Quality & Excellence, we seek to thoroughly examine and assess the strength and reliability of all our products. To achieve certainty of this objective, we at EJ welcomed the NATA audit team to our testing facility in Brendale. Their audit of our systems reinforced our commitment to producing and maintaining the quality and strength of products that the EJ brand is known for.

Within our testing facility are several instruments capable of accurately verifying our production capacity and durability. The first of such is a hydraulic load testing machine, used to evaluate the strength and fortitude of our products, allowing us to be certain our products are capable of load bearing as per the Australian Standard for access covers and grates (AS3996:2019).

Additionally, under the new Australian Standard, polymeric/composite products need to pass a rigorous set of additional tests (Section 4.2.1). For this purpose, our facility also incorporates a tool that enables us to test both the creep resistance and elevated temperature resistance of our covers. Creep resistance testing looks at subjecting our product to a serviceability design load for 24 hours at ambient temperatures.

Elevated temperature resistance on the other hand involves conditioning our covers to 50 degrees Celsius for 4 hours prior to serviceability load testing; and then sustaining subjecting prolonged compression for 4 hours. These trials allow the EJ team to be assured and confident in the quality and endurance of our products.

In addition to our testing facility, our engineering teams are also working with the latest techniques to develop new products and ensure product quality exceeds expectations. Building on our global engineering knowledge and 140 years of practical manufacturing experience, Asia Pacific engineers are bringing innovative products to life with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other modelling tools.

These tools enable EJ engineers to specify and design custom products to meet all the relevant local Standards; including the new AS3996:2019 for the Asia Pacific region.
