Comcork Walk Easy environmentally friendly anti-slip flooring by
Safety Flooring

As the major supplier of flooring products to the NSW State Transit Authority bus fleet, representatives from Safety Floorings celebrated last week when Custom-Coaches officially delivered its 1000th bus to the STA.

"As a long-term partner of Custom-Coaches we are very privileged to be the major supplier of flooring for new STA buses," said Loretta Pearson, Director, Safety Floorings. "We look forward to maintaining our partnership for the next decade and beyond."

"Ten years ago we were looking for a long-lasting, safe floor to install in NSW's STA bus fleet," said Mr Stephen Jackson, Sales & Marketing Director, Custom-Coaches. "Comcork's Walk Easy appeared to be the ideal choice because of its durable qualities and advanced anti-slip technology. Now 10 years on we know we made the right choice."

A floor was needed which coped with both wet and dry conditions; was comfortable and easy for passengers to walk on and looked good too. Walk Easy offered all these benefits and more.

Since 1999, Custom-Coaches have installed 50,000 square metres of Walk Easy flooring in STA buses, that's an equivalent area of nearly 60 Olympic swimming pools.

"Tens of millions of feet may have stomped across the floor of the STA bus fleet dragging grit, dirt, rain and dust with them but the floor has withstood the test of time and remains as safe and comfortable to walk on as it was ten years ago," said Mr Jackson.

"Walk Easy is 100% Australian-owned and manufactured and is green star compliant making it an environmentally sustainable choice," said Ms Pearson. "In addition to its durability and antislip technology Walk Easy is also highly resistant to UV light and extreme temperatures, which has been a clear advantage coping with hot, Sydney summers."

With an expected life span of 25 years the bus floors need to be particularly resilient. None of the original flooring installations have been replaced which is clear testament to the product's ability to handle even the toughest environment.

"The STA may have saved thousands of dollars because the product has lived up to its promise of long-term durability, in 10 years no floors have had to be replaced, only minor, low cost repairs have been necessary," Mr Jackson said.

Parliamentary Secretary for Transport, Penny Gail-Sharpe, commented at the launch that the Government welcomed delivery of the 1000th bus as it reinforced NSW State Transit Authority's position as Australia's leading bus fleet wholly committed to keeping Sydney residents moving in record numbers.
