Protective Epoxy Coating for Warehouse/Distribution from Bayset

A large warehouse and distribution centre of a multi-national lingere manufacturer required a durable, non-slip flooring for the new 500 square metre mezzanine in their facility.

With constant trolley traffic moving fully-laden pallers of goods, the flooring needed to have premium wear and impact resistance to protect the ply construction underneath. It was clear to the maintenance manager that a high-quality epoxy industrial floor was the only long-term solution. It was just a matter of finding one that could fit into the budget restraints placed on the project.

The budget pressure was resolved from two seperate angles. Firstly, the HD FX system was modified to make it a little more affordable for this application. By rolling down two Kevlar® - reinforced cost of JAXXON 1535 at a reduced thickness (250 microns compared to a standard 300-350) and using a lower-cost non-slip particle (EM Agg), the overall cost was reduced sufficiently. While the resultant system was thinner, the two Kevlar® - reinforced coats meant the durability of the system would still be better than traditional floor coatings.

Secondly, the cost application was minimised byt the company opting to do it themselves. With the success of this approach illustrated via numerous case histories, the option was very appealing to the maintenance manager despite having very little previous application experience.

The success of the system and level of satisfaction was reflected in the manager's letter of support he volunteered a few months later:

"It has been at least 4 months since we finished and we move, on average, 1 million pieces of stock over this floor per week (approx 3500 cartons) by pallet or jack or by sliding (our storeman slide plastic pallets on their side into a storage area). Over this time I have been keeping an eye on the floor surface and I am amazed how well it has stood up. I would be happy to recommend this product to anyone."
