Zip Water

Zip Water has a 100% commitment to preserving the earth

Our products have been created out of a need to do just that, while the processes with which they are manufactured and distributed are a reflection of that very thinking.

Zip Water's policy with regards to the environment is one of minimal waste and the sparing use of resources. In the manufacture and distribution of its products Zip aims to conserve energy and the earth's natural resources.

This is reflected in all aspects of our business, in particular:

  • the design and performance of our products,
  • recyclable packaging in which they are shipped,
  • re-usable containers in which suppliers deliver components,
  • clean manufacturing processes.

Zip Supply Chain
Where possible all deliveries from suppliers take place either in returnable containers or recyclable material. This allows for the minimum consumption of resources within the supply chain process. Products that require plating process are kept to an absolute minimum and correct effluent treatment and waste management is maintained by these suppliers.

Zip Manufacturing
The processes selected for the manufacturing of Zip products have been chosen for their minimal impact on the environment.

  • Stainless steel tanks have replaced copper due to the longevity of material.
  • Cases are manufactured from either a stainless steel or low-carbon steel that is then coated using a dry powder coating process as opposed to a solvent based wet spray painting.
  • Electrostatic charging is used to minimise loss of powder during the coating process, while a water scrubber prevents any powder being expelled into the atmosphere.
  • All pre-treatment chemicals are neutralised before allowing them into the sewerage system with the result that all waste is well within the regulations.
  • Other processes within the manufacturing environment are pressing, welding, brazing or assembly. None of these has any adverse effect on the environment.
  • Refrigeration systems are charged with CFC-free, ozone friendly product.
  • Care has also been taken to minimise noise pollution and as such the manufacturing process is relatively low noise.
  • Product packaging has been designed to be environmentally friendly and recyclable, while still maintaining a high level of protection for the product inside. Maximum use is made of materials such as cardboard, whilst minimum polystyrenes are used in packaging.

Zip Product Design
Zip products are designed to minimise waste in terms of time, energy and natural resources.

  • Zip instant boiling water heaters have been proven by independent experts to be more cost effective and energy efficient when compared with more traditional ways of obtaining boiling water such as urns and kettles. This is achieved via superior high density insulation and the recycling of steam to name just two unique features of Zip products.
The design also prevents over-boiling, a common occurrence in other boiling water products. This further reduces the demand on our energy sources.
  • Zip under-sink instant boiling and chilled water systems, unlike some competitive systems, are air cooled as opposed to water cooled. Independent tests have shown that water cooled systems can waste significant amounts of water.
  • Zip urinal flushing systems significantly reduce water consumption in washroom flushing and prevent water wastage. Zip FlushMaster was voted Product of the Year in 2003 by the GreenPlumbers organisationbecause of its ability to conserve water resources.
  • Zip automatic Hand Dryers eliminate the need for disposable or reuseable towels (that require frequent cleaning) in washrooms.
  • Zip Restrictaflow, a water flow reducer for washroom taps conserves water by reducing water consumption in a variety of applications by 30 to 40%.
