News from Australia's National Eco-Label, Good Environmental Choice

The latest from LOHAS tells us the 'Green Market State of Play'.

Mobium's recently released fourth annual Living LOHAS trends report shows that the 'green' market in Australia is worth $21.5 billion, but consumers are wary.

The report also shows that GECA has 17% (prompted) recognition in the community. This means that GECA's is the best known Type 1 Ecolabel on the Australian market.

Nick Bez, Mobium's Research Director says "shoppers are looking for surety about the bone fides of the sustainability credentials of products in store when making decisions; but most don't know how to verify the information. Having surveyed over 30,000 shoppers over the past few years, the underlying cynicism that exists in the community has not abated and the key message to marketers is very much 'prove it'.

As the pioneer of ecolabelling in Australia, GECA has provided consumers and manufacturers with a reliable, independent and convenient way to chose products with guaranteed improved environmental impacts since 2001.

GECA in the SMH and beyond!

Recent media interest in sustainable flooring has resulted in feature articles and news coverage in Facility Perspectives Magazine, Awards Magazine and the Sydney Morning Herald (weekend edition, pictured above) respectively.

This is great exposure for GECA. One of our licensees is in the spotlight too: Paul Grierson of Regupol is quoted in Facility Perspectives Magazine.

GECA also has an ad in the 'Office Equipment and IT' insert into the July edition of WME magazine. See it here

Throughout August, look out for GECA ads in InDesign Magazine, and the InDesignLive website, right in time for SaturdayInDesign on August 19 and 20, 2011.

GECA and Green Star made easier

Understanding the ins and outs of gaining Green Star points for products certified against GBCA-recognised GECA standards can be tricky. So GECA has developed two new information pages on our website to help demystify this.

Sustainability and Climate Change Governance Survey

GECA's certification partner NCS International is conducting a survey on Corporate Sustainability & Climate Change Governance, and would appreciate your input.

NCSI are canvassing a broad cross-section of industries and businesses for the survey and participants will have access to key findings. It is hoped that these will give you a better understanding of industry sentiments and help you benchmark, and will be available later in the year.

NCS international will donate $20 to the Australian Conservation Foundation for every completed survey (5 to 7 minutes online, with 20 or so multiple choice questions).

Take the survey here.
