The PM looked AM in the eye...

..during the Hon. Julia Gillard's Carbon Tax speech at Green Capital's recent Sydney event,'The Long Carbon Journey'.

Yes! GECA's Anne-Marie Byrne joined many big picture people from politics, business and sustainability in applauding Ms Gillard for taking real action on carbon through legislation. However it's clear that the road ahead will be rocky.

See the Prime Minister's speech and Q&A session, as well as the ensuing panel discussion with Robert Purves of Sustainable Business Australia, Miriam Lyons from the Centre for Policy Development and The Climate Institute's John Connor, here or via the Green Capital website.

GECA's recent media and event highlights include:

The August edition of InDesignMagazine- Australia's largest interior architecture magazine- features a full page on the value of the GECA Ecolabel.

GECA's ad on the InDesignLive website - in the lead up to the iconic SaturdayInDesign (SID) event on August 19/20 - resulted in increased traffic to the GECA website. The ad showcased licensees Verosol, Shamburg + Alvisse, Regupol, KnIght Group, Forbo, Korban Flaubert and Aspect Furniture.

GECA congratulates the InDesign team for yet another great year of their iconic event: SaturdayInDesign, held on Aug 19/20. This is a wonderful forum for showcasing how sustainable practices are being developed and adopted.

GECA people in attendance (Judy and Sara - see story in side bar, right) enjoyed catching up with several licensees on the day.

bmag, Brisbane's largest lifestyle magazine, featured an article (pictured, above) on May 24, about the marketability of furniture and fittings with environmental credentials, citing that some 'EcoChic'-type retailers list GECA-certification amongst their selection criteria for stock.

To see these and more, click to 'GECA in the Media' .

Coming up - GECA will feature in InClean Magazine's 'sustainability' issue in September, and in the August/September issue of Awards Magazine.

Great meeting you at SaturdayInDesign!

GECA's CEO Judy Hollingworth and BDM Sara Castillo had a great day at SaturdayInDesign. They were thrilled to see so many incredible GECA certified items on display and how proud licensees are of their products.

Judy and Sara were able to catch up with a number of GECA Licensees including representatives from AWM, CSM Office Furniture, Jardan, Zenith Interiors and Corporate Culture, to name a few.

They were inspired by the ingenious use of environmentally preferable materials in design. It is clear that where there is a will to make a significant improvement in environmental impact, there is a way!
