Australian Made Flood Protection Products from Flooding Solutions

Australian made Flood Barriers are one of the things that every architect, building planner, and property owner should consider for their projects.

Flooding Solutions Advisory Group (FSAG) has always been an advocate of local flood protection manufacturing and innovation. Just recently, FSAG collaborated with the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in a flood barrier design competition. The design criteria aimed to produce the first Australian-made temporary flood barrier that is easy to deploy, highly functional, sustainable and requires minimal maintenance value for the local community.

FSAG had difficulty choosing the winner, but they were, in the end, blown away by the lightweight flood protection product designed by three industrial design students Jack Gurr, Connor Crawford and Narisson Irlen. The winners produced a design for a temporary flood levee with an A-base frame and wrap-around membrane that can be assembled like Lego blocks. It exceeded expectations in the design criteria of simplicity, quick installation, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.

The winning temporary flood levee is set to go into production - creating socio-economic and environmental opportunities for the local community.
