Decorative Screens for Your Outdoor Living Room from QAQ

The repurposing and transformation of gardens into private areas for personal relaxation and family entertainment reflects the growing home trend in modern Australian home life-outdoor living. Indoor and outdoor living spaces are now being blended to suit a need for comfort and privacy. With gardens becoming the new living rooms for Australian families, outdoor renovators and designers are challenged to respond to the evolving demand for stylish and functional gardens.
QAQ Architecture, a Victoria-based provider of decorative screens and panels for interior and exterior applications, recognises how valuable the decorative dividers are in maximising the use of spaces and creating a more stylish and comfortable outdoor living experience.
QAQ decorative screens are flexible space partitioning solutions that come in different ornate designs and sizes. Aside from providing shade and privacy, the decorative screens also offer an architectural elegance that often exudes sophistication, tranquility, and visual charm.
The following are the QAQ screen materials that are designated to be applicable in outdoor living areas:
- Weathertex. A 9mm-thick reconstituted compressed hardwood used for decorative and privacy screens. The weathertex-based QAQ products come in standard (600mm x 1200mm, 1200mm x 1200mm, 1800mm x 1200mm, 2400mm x 1200mm, and 3600mm x 1200mm) and custom sizes. The maximum size available is 3600mm x 1200mm. The products of this variety are of raw or sealed finish. They also feature UV protection. Specifically, 97% of Weathertex's composition is timber, while the remaining 3% is natural wax. It does not contain glues, resins, or silica.

- Aluminium. Lightweight and highly resistant to rust, aluminium is another choice material that composes some of the QAQ screens. The aluminium-based QAQ products are 3 millimetres in thickness. The maximum available size for QAQ aluminium screens is 2380mm x 1180mm. The products are available in raw or powder-coated finish.
- Corten. A highly resistant material, corten is another obvious choice as a material for QAQ decorative screens. Its high durability, lack of requirement for painting, and natural ability to develop a stable rust-like appearance due to weather exposure makes it ideal for outdoor application. The QAQ's corten-based screens have a raw finish and 3 millimetres thickness. The products come in standard (600mm x 1200mm, 1200mm x 1200mm, 1800mm x 1200mm, and 2400mm x 1200mm) and custom sizes. The maximum size available is 2400mm x 1200mm.
- Mild Steel. A commonly used type of steel, mild steel is another material for some of QAQ's 3-mm-thick screens. It is offered in a raw or powder-coated finish, although the latter is proven to be the better finish. The QAQ's mild-steel-based screens come in standard (600mm x 1200mm, 1200mm x 1200mm, 1800mm x 1200mm, 2400mm x 1200mm) and custom sizes. The maximum size available is 2400mm x 1200mm.
- Stainless Steel. A highly durable steel with strong resistance to rust and tarnishing, stainless is another obvious choice as a material for QAQs outdoor screens. The 3-mm, stainless-made screens are either finished raw or powder-coated. They come in standard (600mm x 1200mm, 1200mm x 1200mm, 1800mm x 1200mm, 2400mm x 1200mm) and custom sizes. The maximum size available is 2400mm x 1200mm.
- Aluminium Composite Panel. As a composite product, the aluminium composite panel is like Alucobond. It is lightweight and manufactured by heat-bonding two pre-finished 0.2-0.3mm-thick aluminium cover sheets. The screen products are available in 10 colours and come in standard (1200mm x 1200mm, 1800mm x 1200mm, 2400mm x 1200mm, 600mm x 1200mm, and 3600mm x 1200mm) and custom sizes. The maximum size available is 3600mm x 1200mm.
- Q-Board (PVC). Ideal for exterior applications, Q-Board has a self-extinguishing capacity, does not rot, and does not absorb too much moisture. The QAQ's Q-board screens are available in black or white finish. They have 16mm thickness and come in standard (600mm x 1200mm, 1200mm x 1200mm, 1800mm x 1200mm, 2400mm x 1200mm) and custom sizes. The maximum size available is 2400mm x 1200mm.
- Acrylic/Perspex. Lightweight and impact-resistant, acrylic is another ideal material for outdoor decorative screens. It is flexible and a good alternative to glass. The acrylic-made QAQ screens are available in different colours. Options for thickness are 3mm and 6mm. They come in standard (600mm x 1200mm, 1200mm x 1200mm, 1800mm x 1200mm, 2400mm x 1200mm) and custom sizes. The maximum size available is3000mm x 2000mm.
