2012 Environmentally Preferable Textiles Standard from GECA

Our new standard 'Textiles 2012' open for public comment.

GECA is pleased to issue for public comment our revised standard for certifying environmentally preferable textiles. The revisions to this standard were made in conjunction with Environmental Choice New Zealand (ECNZ) and GECA is grateful for its expertise and industry insights. We now welcome additional thoughts from all our licensees, other stakeholders and the general public.

The 2012 Textiles standard is applicable to the following range of products:

Clothing textiles and accessories consisting of at least 90% by weight of textile fibres;
Interior textiles consisting of at least 90% by weight of textile fibres; and
Fibre, yarn and fabric (including durable non-woven fabric) intended for use in textile clothing, accessories or interior textiles.

In accordance with GECA's Standard Development Guidelines, submissions on this standard will be accepted for 60-days until COB 4 February 2013.
