New Approvals for Pyropanel Doors in Speedpanel Walls

Pyropanel Developments over the past 35 years have developed a range of fire protection products that have been designed and tested for specific walling type systems. One of these walling systems is the Speedpanel walling system. For those that are not familiar with this type of walling system, it includes a lightweight concrete form surrounded by steel sheeting that is used for non load bearing fire rated and acoustic walls.

Pyropanel now has some new approvals for Pyropanel fire doors in Speedpanel walls. The following is a summary of the approval status for Pyropanel fire doors in Speedpanel wall systems:

78mm Speedpanel Walls (2hr)

We have received an assessment which permits FR Board Maxi doors in a steel frame (filled with plasterboard or mortar) to achieve -/120/30. This has been assessed to AS1530.4-2005.

We have also received an assessment for FR Board Maxi doors in a steel frame (unfilled) to achieve -/120/-. This has been assessed to AS1530.4-2005.

For both approvals above, the maximum door size is 2400 x 920mm.

The Speedpanel wall test was conducted without cladding, so the approval covers walls with or without plasterboard cladding.

51mm Speedpanel Wall (1hr)

Pyropanel has tested a system for the use of FR Board Maxi doors in steel frames (filled with plasterboard) to achieve -/60/30 to AS1530.4-2005. The door size that was tested was 2248 x 970mm. We have requested larger door sizes from the test lab and are awaiting feedback. Our target door size is 2350 x 1020mm.

64mm Speedpanel Wall

Pyropanel is awaiting an approval to use the doors from the 51mm Speedpanel test in a 64mm Speedpanel wall system to achieve an FRL of -/90/30.

Pair doors and timber frames

The above approvals have been tested for all single leaf doors in steel frames. Pyropanel has requested assessments for pair doorsets and timber framed door sets.
