Sustainable Vessel Bodies from LignaStone

aquaponic garden

Here at Ligna Stone we are highly versatile and as a result of this we are always looking at how we can replace concrete and other conventional materials for new applications.

Last year Rory Davenport approached us about his unique aquaponic project. Pisces Garden is a sculptural redesign of an aquaponic system for education and awareness of the system and sustainable practices. Designed to be as sustainable as possible, it uses materials that follow the cradle to cradle design ethos. The piece uses cast Ligna Stone for the vessel bodies and polyethylene pipe with porcelain pipe fitting for the plumbing.

By using general purpose cement in lieu of the typical off white cement, we are able to produce a concrete look that is around half the weight of conventional concrete.
