Urethane Coatings for Floor Restorations from Era Polymers![]() Urethane Coatings: Before and after floor restoration. Urethane Coatings Timberseal & Monothane Satin A heritage floor in a building in Foveaux Street, Surry Hills, Sydney was in need of some serious restoration. The Tallowwood floor certainly looked like it had seen better days. Urethane Coatings Timberseal and Monothane Satin coatings were used to bring this floor back to life. Tallowwood is a Eucalypt species native to Australia. This exceptionally durable hardwood timber is naturally oily with a high tannin content it is termite resistant and is often used for timber flooring. To bring this Tallowwood Floor back to life the floor was sanded and prepared then coated using a Urethane Coatings system of Timberseal and Monothane Satin. The first coat of Timberseal was followed by two coats of Monothane Satin. Timberseal has been developed as a first coat for, cork tiles, particle board, pine species and hardwoods. It may also be mixed with fine sawdust to a slurry consistency, for use as a filler for timber seams. Timberseal is highly flexible it virtually eliminates edge bonding when heavily applied and worked into the seams, thereby preventing entry of the subsequent coat of Monothane. Monothane Satin is a transparent, single pack, moisture cure polyurethane that provides a hard finish while maintaining the natural character of the timber.
