Ocean Debris and Waterway Filtration Initiative from Kingspans![]() Ocean Debris and Waterway Filtration Initiative from Kingspan. The new partnership between Kingspan Group and Australian clean-tech start-up Seabin™ aims to work together for their common goal of a better, cleaner ocean. This initiative includes a recently started ocean debris and water filtration initiative for Sydney Harbour.
Seabin™ uses ground-breaking technology that collects and removes microplastics and other ocean debris from the water. In the recent Sydney pilot, over 16 tonnes of marine debris were collected and more than 3.2 billion litres of water were filtered for microplastics, plastic, fibres, oil and other contaminants.
Kingspan is known in Australia for their energy-efficient building solutions, wastewater treatments, rainwater harvesting, and energy storage. A 10-year Planet Passionate sustainability programme by the company includes supporting five ocean clean-up projects around the world by 2025. The commercial partnership between Seabin™ and Kingspan helps the former in replicating its clean up model for Jones Bay Wharf and replicating this for 100 cities around the world by 2050.
