Radiation Barrier Sheets from Guardian Building Products

Lead products have been incorporated in construction for many years where radiation protection is required or significant sound reduction is called for in the project. Lead lined panels comprise of a single non-pierced sheet of lead laminated to varying substrates such as MDF, Ply and high-density plasterboard of varying thicknesses to meet individual site requirements.

The bonding process involves a continuous cover of contact adhesive which with the lead applied, is passed through pressured rollers to produce a flat sheet.

Lead weights start at 5 kg/m2 and increase in 5 Kg/m2 increments up to 40 kg/m2 for this application although heavier lead weights are available upon request.

Panels can be supplied fully laminated with lead of the required thickness, or to a specified height along the panel.

Standard lead sheet sizes include 2100 x 1220mm, 2500 x 1220mm and 3100 x 1220mm, and can be supplied in any custom size range for use as joining strips, door jamb infill's and penetration protection.

Guardian's fabrication facility can produce sheets with rebates in the panels to accommodate joining strips and along with several other options.

Applications ranging from hospitals, X-Ray facilities, Veterinary Services and dental surgeries are most common with numerous other uses requiring this type of cladding. Lead cored doors utilising MDF face sheets also provide an economical alternative when designing your fit-out situation.
