Travertine for Swimming Pool Design from Sareen Stone

Project of the Month: Wahroonga Retreat
Contemporary family pool design for a residential retreat.

This month's project feature is from award winning pool designers, Freestyle Pools. This particular pool was brought to life with a contemporary, yet functional design using Sareen Stone's Classic Travertine.

Like the warm sparkling water of a tropical island, the ice blue interior of this pool design by Freestyle Pools beckons year round. A family-sized pool and spa designed to be incorporated into a child friendly backyard was the request given by the clients, with spectacular results.

Custom ordered smoke blend mosaic tiles in the spa and a waterline finish for the pool add points of interest and individuality to this Freestyle Pools design.

Sareen Stone's Classic Tumbled Travertine pavers and coping in custom sizes in and around the pool area accentuates the overall cohesion between the home and outdoor areas, a balance that was a high priority in the design of this pool.

LED lighting in both the pool and water feature creates the ambience and functionality for night-time swimming and entertaining and natural gas heating keeps the pool warm despite the weather.

In consultation with Freestyle Pools the clients wanted to create an outdoor area that would fit with their space and lifestyle needs, especially catering for use by their young children. The process leading to this design began with discussions regarding the owner's needs and wants for their outdoor space, followed by recommendations for equipment and finishes that would best suit their vision.

The outcome is a contemporary family pool that encapsulates the wants and needs of the client, forming their backyard into a residential retreat for the family.

The overall result achieved with this pool and spa highlights what can be achieved with great functional design, quality finishes, great use of space and integration with the outdoor entertaining area.
