The brilliant idea of a Swiss engineer to manufacture and distribute the first silently operated curtain track system led to the foundation of Silent Gliss in 1952.

It was the first time aluminum curtain tracks had been combined with polyamide gliders. These products were patented and the trademark Silent Gliss was registered.

Subsidiaries and localised manufacturers were established initially in Europe and then worldwide. Silent Gliss was first introduced into Australia in the early 80's. The company had established itself a decade or so prior to this, concentrating on delivering quality window furnishings and pioneering innovation and detail. Today the company is not only responsible for Australia and New Zealand, but has set up agents and associate offices throughout South East Asia. By establishing such a wide spread distribution and manufacturing network Silent Gliss has become known as the leader in the field of window treatments worldwide.
