Performance Shading and Motorised Roller Blinds for Cairns Convention Centre by Verosol The expansion of the Cairns Convention Centre by COX Architecture showcases how performance shading can complement architectural design. Overlooking Trinity Inlet and framed by tropical mountain ranges, the venue's new 10,500-square-metre extension required careful consideration of light, heat, and view. To balance sun control with uninterrupted vistas, COX Architecture specified Verosol's Heavy Duty Motorised Ambience Roller Blinds. Installed across the Exhibition, Plenary, Meeting, and Trinity levels, the system includes both single and twin configurations featuring 231 Veroscreen fabric for glare reduction and 737 Veropaque Blockout for complete privacy and light exclusion. Custom brackets and side channels were designed in collaboration with Lendlease to accommodate the centre's 5.5-metre drops and integrate seamlessly with the timber pillars. Automated by a Somfy control system, the blinds adjust effortlessly to suit each function, ensuring thermal comfort, energy efficiency, and optimal daylight management. By merging precision engineering with environmental sensitivity, Verosol has helped deliver a venue that celebrates its setting while maintaining year-round comfort.
