High-Performance Blinds for Botanical Collection Protection by Verosol Environmental control played a critical role in the design of the National Herbarium of NSW at Mount Annan, where more than one million botanical specimens are stored within a purpose-built archival facility. Designed by Architectus with FDC Construction & Fitout, the project incorporated Verosol blinds to support light and temperature management throughout the building. Specified across the facility, the blinds feature 203 SilverScreen Vision fabric in a light grey finish. Most systems were chain operated, with motorised blinds installed in selected hard-to-access areas to meet operational requirements. The PVC-coated fibreglass yarn construction also provides inherent flame retardancy suited to the project's bushfire resilience objectives. Designed to help protect sensitive botanical collections, the fabric delivers a solar reflectance capability of 82%, reducing heat and glare while maintaining outward visibility. The blinds contribute to the carefully controlled internal environment required to support long-term preservation within the Herbarium facility. Support controlled archival environments with blinds designed for thermal and glare management. More details about this project at www.verosolspecifications.com.au
