Wall-to-wall PosiStruts from MiTek Australia

A recent home construction in Ballarat has challenged traditional building techniques. The brainchild of creative Designer, David Poulton of Xdp, this three storey marvel included a stream running through the middle of the house...and a 'Green Roof!'

MiTek Posi-Struts (normally used as floor or roof joists) were chosen to create 3m x 2.4m 'pods' for a thicker wall cavity solution...for better insulation. The PosiStruts were made by licensed MiTek Fabricator P & K Roof Trusses. 200 PosiStruts were required: 40 for the sub-floor, 80 for the first and 80 for the second floor.

'I think MiTek PosiStruts are a fabulous use of timber and steel. You get high strength with minimal use of materials,' said David. 'I simply can't understand why people still use solid timber or LVLs; they're old technology and a waste of natural resources.'
