Viega eliminates workplace hazards and protects valuable inventory

Viega Propress is not only protecting contractors installing domestic cold-water services throughout the new Rockhampton Museum of Art in Queensland (scheduled to open on early 2022) but also will ensure precious artworks - many from Australia's famed modernist era - remain protected for years to come. The regional gallery's $31.5 million upgrade, which is part of the Palaszczuk Government's $295 million Building Our Regions program, will feature two flexible gallery spaces; three multi-purpose education spaces; a restaurant, retail space, and function area on the top floor overlooking the Fitzroy River.

"Approximately 800 tradespeople are being inducted over the course of the build, 80 per cent of whom are locally-based," says Member for Rockhampton, Barry O'Rourke MP. "This work for local tradies and suppliers has come during a critical time for our region as we recover from the impacts of COVID-19."

O'Brien Plumbing Mackay Project Manager, Randall Godfrey says working with Viega Propress can be summed up in three words: safety and speed.

"Installing Viega Propress saves time and creates a safer working environment - especially when you eliminate everything that's required to use oxy sets," he explains. "That includes organising hot works permits and erecting scaffolding to working with hoses dangling all around you."

Viega speeds up installation and eliminates workplace hazards

The increasing pressures placed on the construction industry during the COVID-19 pandemic are enormous - and will only continue as worksites introduce new measures to protect workers. With Viega, safety is always guaranteed with every press-fit system.

Viega Planning Consultant, Gerard Collie says Viega's pressing tools can be used with one hand, feature a 180-degree rotational head for maximum flexibility, and can be operated with minimal training.

"Viega's easy to use, portable battery powered pressing tools reduce on-site equipment and allow easy access even in tight or hard to reach locations," he explains. "Single action pressing produces a reliable permanent joint in seconds whilst reducing the risk of leaking joints and the need for remedial work."
