Highlights from the ACIF Construction Market Report
Record low interest rates are doing more than stimulating the real estate market, with mortgage holders using the cashflow to take on renovation projects, according to industry research presented by the Australian Construction Industry Forum. Total construction activity is projected to amount to more than $200 billion next year.

Commercial construction takes off
Melbourne Airport is set for a major expansion, with a multi-billion dollar development plan announced that will see new facilities open in mid-2015, creating over 3000 construction jobs. Melbourne Airport CEO Chris Woodruff said their new expansion plans will see passenger numbers double to 60 million in 20 years.
