Brightgreen Ideahub achieves Kickstarter success
with Luto screen-mounted smartlight

Melbourne based premium LED lighting company Brightgreen successfully raises $60,000 to crowdfund Luto, its low-energy screen-mounted smartlight that reduces eye strain and fatigue when using monitors.

The Kickstarter project reached its funding goal on 24 December with the $89.00 earlybird standard product reward proving most popular. Significant interest from firms looking to integrate Luto throughout their workplace led to the late introduction of a pledge that rewarded contributors with a company-wide program, boosting the project's funding in its final days to achieve 102% of its target, finishing on $61,490 AUD.

Pledges were made from locations as far-reaching as Singapore, Toronto, California, New York, Rome, Dublin, Mumbai, Bangkok and Barcelona, highlighting the smartlight's global appeal.

"Luto was borne out of problems that were affecting the Brightgreen team on a daily basis - we spend a lot of time at our screens and understand that having the right lighting for the task in hand can really improve productivity and user experience," commented Brightgreen CEO David O'Driscoll.

"We released Luto on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter to find out if other people had similar concerns. The feedback we had was overwhelming, especially from organisations with occupational health and safety concerns."

Luto is the first product developed by Brightgreen's in-house think tank, the Brightgreen Ideahub. Its launch coincides with the expansion of Kickstarter into the Australian market.

About Luto
Luto's 300-lumen front-facing task light provides high quality Tru-Colour 95CRI illumination directly onto the work surface while its 600-lumen back-facing LED panel generates appropriate ambient lighting for the area around the screen. Its integrated sensor system enables the device to automatically adjust correlated colour temperature (CCT) and lux levels to align with tasks, creating the optimal lighting environment no matter what you are doing.

The device can also be controlled using LightApp, a simple piece of software designed to monitor and adjust lighting levels. As a result the user can choose choose cool light to improve productivity and alertness during a work session, or warm light to relax the brain when winding down.
