JPS Coatings Primer: Water Based Acrylic Coating

JPS Coatings Primer is a water-based acrylic coating that conditions the porosity of the surface substrate, resulting in a smooth finish. Primers dry very quickly, enhance structural integrity and provide excellent adhesion.
JPS Coatings Primer is formulated on pure acrylic emulsions. The high-quality water-based acrylic coating seals, fill in cracks, and bonds the material together. It can be applied to a wide range of interior and exterior wall surfaces, such as off-form concrete, fibre cement sheeting, glass reinforced concrete, plasterboard and cement render.
JPS Coatings Primer: Easy-to-Follow Application Guidelines
A. Preparation of Materials and Working Area
- Gather all the equipment or materials needed for priming.
- Remove the dirt, dust, grime, grease, powdery residue, bond breakers, release agents, oil and any other substance that might hinder the adhesive capacity of the primer.
- Take away all forms of metal materials like tie wires, nails, screws and steel that might induce corrosion.
- Newly applied cementitious substrate must be allowed to completely dry for 7 days before one can proceed with the primer application.
- Achieve optimum coating performance by ensuring that there is less than 15% moisture wood equivalent at the time of coating.

B. Application of JPS Coatings Primer
- The water-based acrylic coating comes in a plastic pail. It must be thoroughly mixed before priming.
- The primer can be applied using a roller, conventional or airless spray. However, a brush is needed to apply the primer in tight areas and around openings.
- It is important to take note of the temperature when applying JPS Coatings Primer. It should only be applied at temperatures above 7°C and below 30°C.
- Protect the freshly worked area from frost and rain for a minimum of 24 hours. Also, avoid priming under full sun or windy conditions that might impact product integrity and adhesion.
- Do not thin the JPS Coatings Primer or apply it on a wet wall surface.
C. Coverage
- A pail of JPS Coatings Primer has an estimated spread rate of 10m2 per litre.
- Practical spread rates depend on the surface being worked on, the method of application and conditions during priming.
D. Drying or Curing Times
- The primer is surface dry after 30 minutes of its application. The area can be overcoated after two hours at 25°C with a relative humidity rate at 50%.
- Drying or curing of the primer might take longer at lower temperatures or higher humidity.
