An acrylic based patching compound provides a speedy and long-lasting solution for surface irregularities, premature cracking and blemishes caused by natural movements. In the building and construction industry, it is a common knowledge that building materials tend to expand and contract as the temperature fluctuates, which might compromise the structural integrity of walls.
Using the right rendering product not only helps to prevent the appearance of unsightly hairline cracks, but it also promotes durability and a seamless architectural wall finish.
Established in 1988, JPS Coatings developed their own line of high quality rendering and cladding materials to fit the Australian built environment. From product manufacturing and installation, JPS Coatings offer a one-stop-shop solution for clients at all levels of construction. Their product range includes:
Polyrend fine is one of the rendering staples from the JPS Coatings' Polymer Renders product range. The acrylic based patching compound is used for covering large surface irregularities and blemishes with up to 4mm per coat in a single coat.
In addition to patching, Polyrend Fine can be used to skim coat flush jointed blockwork before the application of a texture coating. When properly applied, the acrylic based patching compound exhibits minimal shrinkage while drying and ensures optimal adhesion to any compatible material like a clean masonry surface.
How to Apply Polyrend Fine Acrylic Based Patching Compound?
Polyrend Fine contains acrylic resin, the compound responsible for its excellent adhesion and flexibility. Therefore, careful surface preparation must be observed to further the adherence of Polyrend Fine.
Builders, tradies or applicators are encouraged to get rid of dust, oil, grease, chemicals or any substance that might hinder the adhesion of Polyrend Fine. The same principle also applies to tie wires, nails and steel - all must be removed to free up the working area or corrosion stabilized to ensure a seamless finish.
Polyrend Fine comes in a semi liquid dispensable paste which requires an additional mixture of 15% Portland Cement and clean water to achieve the desired consistency. Using a hawk or trowel, spread the mixture without putting too much pressure on the surface area. To achieve a semi-smooth finish, level the surface with a plastic diamond float, polystyrene or sponge while the coating is still moist.
The temperature must be given careful consideration before the application of Polyrend Fine. The acrylic based patching compound is usually dry to touch one hour after its application at 25° and 50% relative humidity. However, it might take longer to dry depending on the temperature and humidity rate during the curing process.
Acrylic rendering is a specialised field and should only be managed by professionals to achieve the desired architectural finish.
