Insulated polystyrene wall cladding cavity systems are generating a growing demand from the building and construction industry. More and more industry professionals are discovering the wonders of polystyrene in preference to conventional timber, concrete, masonry or steel as wall cladding material for a wide range of commercial and residential applications.
Cova-Wall® cladding systems are manufactured from top-quality polystyrene, reinforced with fibreglass mesh. The insulated polystyrene wall cladding cavity system has the following attributes:
1. Thermal insulation - The tight closed cellular matrix of polystyrene accounts for its remarkable insulation power. The Cova-Wall® team at JPS Coatings harnesses the thermal efficiency of polystyrene to develop their own Exterior Insulation Finish System (EIFS). Cova-Wall® cladding systems provide high long-term R-values for excellent, long-lasting performance.
2. Structural stability - JPS Coatings uses only tough and rigid polystyrene for the manufacture of Cova-Wall®. When rendered, Cova-Wall® is comprised of a full cavity batten system topped off with 4-6mm of render, a coat of texture and a decorative sealer. Cova-Wall® is lightweight, yet exhibits exceptional strength and resilience to premature degradation. Cova-Wall® cladding systems are duly certified by AS 4055-2012, citing the wind speed classes that determine design wind speeds and speed loads.
3. Weatherproofing - Cova-Wall® cladding systems are equipped with a water and vapour barrier for hassle-free use of 10 up to 12 years. In addition, the polystyrene cladding exhibits fire retardant properties to ensure longevity under various harsh weather conditions. The weatherability of Cova-Wall® is fully compliant with AS/NZS 4284:2008, determining the performance of a building facade under simulated loading conditions. The methodised tests used include displacement of the facade or prototype, water migration and structural integrity at ultimate limits.
4. CodeMark Scheme - Cova-Wall® cladding systems are CodeMark certified by the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB). The third-party building product certification scheme authorises the use of new and innovative products in specified applications. CodeMark certification is a clear demonstration that Cova-Wall® cladding systems meet the mandatory compliance requirements of the Building Code of Australia (BCA) as cited in Volumes One and Two of the National Construction Code (NCC).
