Versatile Wall and Ceiling Insulation with Styroboard® EPS by Foamex

Versatile wall and ceiling insulation by Foamex aims to help develop a more sustainable built environment. Foamex has specialised in the design, manufacture and distribution of high-performance insulation products for 35 years and counting. As the national leader in polystyrene innovation, the Victorian-based company continues to be of profound service to the building and construction industry in Australia and beyond.
Styroboard® by Foamex
Foamex has received critical acclaim for their signature Styroboard® products. The Styroboard® range includes both expanded polystyrene sheets (EPS) and extruded polystyrene sheets (XPS) for use in various applications, ranging from structural insulation and architectural profiles to packaging and decorative sign writing.
Styroboard® XPS is the ideal choice for heavy-duty insulation that lasts for virtually a lifetime with minimal upkeep. On the other hand, Styroboard® EPS is the more popular counterpart on account of its higher flexibility, versatility and cost-efficiency in both building and creative applications.
Versatile Wall and Ceiling Insulation with Styroboard® EPS
Styroboard® EPS delivers excellent performance as versatile wall and ceiling insulation products. The building material is light in weight, yet heavy in key functionality and maintenance factors like strength, durability, workability, sustainability and insulation power.

The manufacturing process for Styroboard® EPS begins in the pre-expansion stage where compact resin beads are steam-heated inside special machines called pre-expanders. Under temperatures of 80°C to 100°C, the beads expand up to 40 times their original volume to form billions of tiny air bubbles in closed cells. Since air is a poor conductor, Styroboard® EPS makes for a versatile wall and ceiling insulation material that effectively inhibits the passage of heat and noise through its composite matrix. With Styroboard® EPS, homeowners and commercial proprietors can regulate indoor temperatures to enjoy a comfortable ambience all year around.
During production, the cellular beads in Styroboard® EPS undergo a maturing period before a final steam-heating process inside a mould. The resulting output are robust foam boards that maintain rigidity and performance even under demanding conditions. In comparison with traditional insulation materials, Styroboard® EPS achieves the superior balance of strength, flexibility and cost-efficiency. The foam sheets combat premature deterioration or rot due to moisture, mould, fungi and vermin.
Styroboard® EPS is popular for commercial use in warehouses, factories, shop fronts and office buildings. For residential applications, the insulation products have been commonly integrated into apartment blocks, garages, patios and garden sheds.
Styroboard® EPS is fully compliant with Australian Standard 1366 Part 3 -1992, specifying the technical standards for the production of plastic sheets in thermal insulation applications.
