Styroboard™ XPS is formulated via a clever mixture of polystyrene granules with additives in an extruder. The mixture forms into a viscous liquid through a melting process and its volume expanded with the injection of a blowing agent. The mixture is forced through a dye before heading through heat and pressure control, and ultimately producing an extremely rigid foam board.

The closed-cell structure of Styroboard™ XPS makes the desired special effects for production and event props possible. Hand-carried and easily customisable, the lightweight extruded polystyrene sheets are can be sanded and painted without significant degradation. Styroboard™ XPS is a durable material for styling and designed to last.

These lightweight extruded polystyrene sheets are also making tracks in model making, including model railways, boats, and architectural models. Strong and impervious to water absorption and moisture uptake or ingress, Styroboard™ XPS can be easily transformed into an aerofoil profile required for marine models. It will neither sink or deteriorate even after long exposure to water.

Foamex moulds and cuts their lightweight polystyrene into 2400mm by 600mm sheets, with a thickness of 25mm to 100mm. Upon request, extruded polystyrene insulation material can be provided with a square edge of 30mm to 100mm or shiplap edge.
