Through years of research and refinement, Foamex has developed a sophisticated manufacturing process for Styroboard™ XPS. While traditional insulation materials emit greenhouse gases, Styroboard™ XPS contributes zero refrigerants, completely CFC and HCFC-free in production.

Styroboard™ XPS is manufactured by combining solid beads of polystyrene resin with additives in an extruder before being subjected to a melting process in a viscous liquid. A blowing agent is injected into the mixture to expand the volume of the beads. Then, the mixture is forced through a die under controlled heat and pressure. The end-result is lightweight yet rigid foam plastic for cutting into Styroboard™ XPS.
