How to Apply Expol Rigid Underfloor Insulation Panels for Maximum Heat Retention?

For maximum heat retention, homeowners and industry specifiers look no further than Foamex for their Expol™ rigid underfloor insulation panels.

Expol™ rigid underfloor insulation panels are designed to address heat loss that usually occurs through the heat sinks on timber floors. Although heating systems conveniently provide warmth in winter, they cause the warm air to rise to the ceiling, as the cold air sinks to the floor.

Expol™ rigid underfloor insulation panels are suitable for both new construction and retrofit projects. Residential properties with timber flooring are vulnerable to an estimated heat loss of up to 15% as the floor is constantly in contact with the coldest air coming from both the interior and exterior part of the home.

How to Apply Expol™ Rigid Underfloor Insulation Panels?

  1. Using the Expol™ Underfloor Easy Measure Ruler, measure one side of the joist. The opposite joist will likely fall within one of the standard panel sizes offered by Foamex. Also, it is possible to need different panel sizes. Therefore it is advisable to measure all joints before buying Expol™ rigid underfloor insulation panels.
  2. After measuring, simply cut EXPOL™ panels in the appropriate concertina edge. Leave an estimated 5mm oversize to ensure a snug fit.
  3. After cutting, slide the rigid underfloor insulation panels between the joists. The panels should be pushed hard against the floor substrate to allow the concertina edge to fit tightly, leaving no room for air gaps. Provide a minimum gap of 150mm around metal heating flues, OA-rated recessed downlights and ceiling exhaust fans. For brick and concrete chimneys, leave a 50mm gap.
  4. Once the EXPOL™ panels are in place, secure them by tacking 2 Expol™ fixings in opposite corners to make sure the panels will stay in place.
  5. Cover any cables or electrical wirings that come in direct contact with the rigid underfloor insulation panels with Expol™ Wireguard. Avoid using a staple gun in the application of Expol™ Wireguard.
  6. For plumbing and pipes, cut the panels and leave a 100mm gap to notch around the hard-to-reach areas. This gap also enables easy access for future maintenance use.

Foamex designed EXPOL™ rigid underfloor insulation panels as the ideal insulating material for the underside of floors, delivering maximum cost and energy efficiency.
