Extruded Polystyrene Foam Insulation Sheets for Perimeter Insulation by Foamex

Foamex stays on top of the design, manufacture, distribution, and installation of Styroboard® extruded polystyrene foam insulation sheets. For 36 years, the Australian-owned and operated company remains one of the industry leaders providing innovative polystyrene solutions for the building and construction industry.

Perimeter Insulation

Perimeter insulation, as defined in the BRANZ House Insulation Guide, is rigid foam insulation made with either expanded or extruded polystyrene sheets placed vertically against the concrete slab or foundation wall. In action, perimeter insulation is the most practical way to increase the thermal resistance (R-value) of the floor slab. It is also one way to minimise heat loss that occurs in building foundation.

The unique physical structure of Styroboard® extruded polystyrene foam insulation sheets help slabs retain warmth and reduce the amount of heat lost through the building's foundation. Suitable to use in pervious, semi-pervious and impervious soil, Styroboard® provides outstanding thermal insulating capacity, as well as resistance to moisture and premature structural deterioration.

Water resistance is a top priority in insulation. Upon contact, moisture undermines the thermal performance of polystyrene sheets. Styroboard® XPS is designed to inhibit water ingress with its high-density, closed cell structure. The rigid foam board maintains its dimensional stability, compressive strength, and long-term R-values even after prolonged exposure to moisture and natural elements. In addition, the extruded polystyrene foam insulation sheets do not attract vermin and inhibit the growth and proliferation of mould and mildew. Foamex guarantees Styroboard® XPS will deliver excellent, long-lasting thermal solution for the building and construction industry.

The environment-friendly features of Styroboard® XPS are even more remarkable in action. Extruded polystyrene foam insulation sheets lower energy consumption and resources, as compared to conventional heating and cooling systems. The insulation material has high and long-term R-values, depending on its foam thickness, which allows Styroboard® XPS to manage indoor temperatures with a full air and moisture barrier. This feature reduces convection currents and air filtration, contributing to external temperature influences and internal temperature variations.

Styroboard® XPS is available in the sheet size of 2400 mm x 600 mm with thickness measurement ranging from 20mm to 75mm.
