What are Expanded Polystyrene Sheets?
Polystyrene is the rising industry standard for a wide variety of building applications. The building material is used for structural insulation, packaging, as well as creative purposes like 3D signage and theatre props.

Foamex has made polystyrene their calling card with their best-selling Styroboard range. The product development team at Foamex has honed a state-of-the-art manufacturing process for Styroboard, maximising the cost-efficient properties of polystyrene, like insulation power, durability, sustainability, and resistance to structural degradation.

For expanded polystyrene, Foamex uses compact resin beads, steam-heated in special machines called pre-expanders during the pre-expansion stage. The beads are exposed to temperatures of 80°C to 100°C to expand up to 40 times their original volume, forming small closed cells that store air. The cellular beads undergo a maturing period, before transporting to moulds for a final steam-heating process, resulting in expanded polystyrene sheets.
